Medical Device Industry in Costa Rica

The global medical device industry is at a turning point this 2026. In an environment shaped by shifting supply chains and rising demands for quality standards, speed-to-market, and technical specialization, Costa Rica continues to establish itself as one of Latin America’s strategic manufacturing hubs. It was within this context that the third edition of the Costa Rica MD Summit was inaugurated, organized by the Medical Devices Cluster of Costa Rica together with The Costa Rica Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER), and held at the Costa Rica Convention Center, bringing together this year more than 900 participants, 101 booths, and representatives from more than 12 countries around the integration of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), contract manufacturers (CMs), and specialized suppliers.

During the Costa Rica MD Summit PROCOMER announced that as of the close of May 2026, Costa Rica’s total goods exports reached $9.535 billion, growing 6% year-over-year, with the precision and medical equipment sector accounting for 45% of that total. $4.294 billion generated in just the first five months of the year. This was not an isolated leap, but the continuation of an exceptional 2025, when the medical device sector grew +25% year-over-year.

As Costa Rica’s medical device industry continues to grow, Accudyn is proud to be a part of that momentum. Accudyn is a global company dedicated to plastic injection molding, specialized in high-engineering components, with a growing focus on the medical device industry. Our headquarters are in Pennsylvania, United States, and from there we’ve built, operation by operation, a manufacturing footprint that now spans three countries: our original plant in Pennsylvania, our operation in Mexico, and our third plant, in Costa Rica, where we began production in December 2025. Being at booth #11 of the Costa Rica MD Summit 2026 was, for us, the opportunity to introduce our newest facility to the country’s medical device community.

“The high demand for medical products supplied from Costa Rica to the United States and the rest of the world made integrating into this ecosystem a strategic decision for us. Since we arrived, we have found numerous business opportunities, and we’re holding conversations with several companies with a presence in the country, looking for partnerships that allow us to expand our presence in the local market. Our plan is to keep prospecting clients and growing primarily toward the medical market, while remaining open to working with other industries.”

— Raúl Sepúlveda, Accudyn.

The Costa Rica MD Summit 2026 was much more than a showcase to Accudyn; it was the formal starting point of the long-term relationships we aim to build in the country, and confirmation that our third operation is arriving at the right moment, in the right ecosystem. As Costa Rica’s medical device leaders often remind us, no company builds this kind of momentum in isolation; it’s the alliances between OEMs, contract manufacturers, and specialized suppliers that turn individual effort into collective competitiveness for the whole ecosystem. That is exactly the alliance Accudyn is ready to build. With a zero-defect, ISO-certified operation now fully running in Costa Rica, we invite OEMs, contract manufacturers, and suppliers across the region’s medical device ecosystem to start a conversation with us. Whether you’re evaluating a new precision molding partner or looking to strengthen your supply chain from Costa Rica. Reach out to our team through sales@accudyn.com, or come find us at our next event in the region. The next chapter of medical manufacturing in Costa Rica is being written through partnerships like these, and we want to write it with you.
